Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee recently discussed the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, emphasizing the continued lack of resolution. Despite the involvement of major investigative agencies like the CBI, ED, and CID, no conclusive findings have been made. The Mukherjee Commission, which was tasked with investigating Netaji’s disappearance, had submitted its report to the Assembly, but Banerjee questioned why this report was never formally accepted by the government. The report, which had been a crucial part of the inquiry, remains a subject of discussion due to its implications.
The Mukherjee Commission’s investigation rejected the theory that Netaji died in an air crash in 1945, a conclusion that differed from the beliefs of Netaji’s family. The family has long held the view that he perished in the crash, but the Commission’s findings raised further questions about the events surrounding his disappearance. The Commission suggested that the air crash theory could not be conclusively proven and called for further scrutiny into other aspects of the case. Banerjee pointed out that although the family maintains their belief in the crash theory, the official report left several unresolved issues regarding Netaji’s fate.
In addition to his remarks on Netaji’s disappearance, Banerjee also addressed allegations of administrative negligence in West Bengal. He criticized the state government for its handling of house demolitions in various areas and the administration’s response to the situation in Basanti. The house demolitions, which affected many residents, have been a source of controversy, and Banerjee’s comments reflect the growing dissatisfaction with how these issues have been managed. His remarks also alluded to the challenges faced by the administration in effectively addressing public grievances and ensuring proper governance.
